Capturing the individuality of a building and the environment in which it exists demands a level of creativity and technical ability that you won’t find in many photographers. Lighting is probably the greatest challenge – especially when you’re talking interiors rather than exteriors – and it’s the one thing that separates merely competent photographers from exceptional ones like David Hatfull. Even after ten years of working together, his work continues to excite because he invariably manages to instil some unexpected magic into a typical project. Beyond that, he is 100 per cent reliable and never misses a deadline.
